From back of book:
Reclusive author Vida Winter, famous for her collection of twelve enchanting stories, has spent the past six decades penning a series of alternate lives for herself. Now old and ailing, she is ready to reveal the truth about her extraordinary existence and the violent and tragic past she has kept secret for so long. Calling on Margaret Lea, a young biographer troubled by her own painful history, Vida disinters the life she meant to bury for good. Margaret is mesmerized by the author's tale of gothic strangeness--featuring the beautiful and willful Isabelle, the feral twins Adeline and Emmeline, a ghost, a governess, a topiary garden and a devastating fire. Together, Margaret and Vida confront the ghosts that have haunted them while becoming, finally, transformed by the truth themselves.
I very much enjoyed this book. It's an easy and entertaining read.

Mailed to amyem for a swap. Thanks so much! Enjoy!
Recieved from passiontoread for my bookgroup reading for this month. We gave it a mixed review, about half liked it and found it an enjoyable but not spectacular read and the other half thought it could have used some stricter editing and didn't enjoy the story or characters.
Thanks for sending it, passiontoread, I'll be crossing it around here.

Planned for release at January Boston Bookcrossing Meetup
Picked up this book at the latest Boston Bookcrossing Meetup. Thanks for passing it along! I picked up a different copy of this book along the way, but passed it to a friend before I had a chance to read it.
Not at all what I was expecting. For some reason, I had an entirely different idea what this book was about. It's been sitting on my shelf for a while, so I was trying to catch up on the older books to prepare for the Boston BookCrossing UnConvention. A good read, but a bit sad.
Setting this book aside for the next BookCrossing meetup. Couldn't find it in time for the UnConvention.
Released at the BookCrossing Meetup last night...
