Journal Entry 1 by IACBY from Shaker Heights, Ohio USA on Saturday, March 15, 2003
This book is intended for a "Daydreams & Doodles Journal" Book-Ring project!

This is a call for all of the artists and writers at heart to join this book ring project and express yourselves!!!

"Daydream & Doodle Journal" is an adorable book that is filled with fun little doodling and writing activities. I have about 4 copies of it in my personal library, and I love giving them as presents to my friends, where I'd fill out all of the information and drawing about the person I'm giving it to.

I believe that BookCrossing provides the best media to fill out such a book! Think about it... 24 (okay, ended up being 26, and possibly more...) different strangers, each writing and drawing in a few pages (3 to be exact)... the end result is bound to be fascinating!!!

This book is offered in a book-ring form, which means the book will come back to me at the end (to complete the ring). In turn, I will contact Tangerine Press, and will ask for permission to scan our completed book and share it with one another!

please don't put your name on the list if you are not willing to send the book overseas. I would like people all over the world to enjoy this book and express themselves.

Participation space is limited, so contact me asap!

That's it! if you have any questions, send me a PM

According to the paperwork on the envelope, this book was mailed on August 9th and it just got to me today - 3 weeks to go from Kansas to Eastern Canada. Mail seems to be taking longer getting everywhere lately.

I've looked through the book and it's so fun looking!! I can't wait to do my pages and send it on. It'll be interesting to see it completed at the end.

Journal Entry 13 by RealBookWorm on Saturday, September 20, 2003

And i will definitely mail it out before 25th Nov, because i'm going overseas that day, & wont be back for a while - oh i do do do hope i remember to send it off, or else i'll be guilty of committing BC crime, & not passing it on.... oh & Reut - my sister's bday is on this Sat :) we are all very excited. i think i might do the party page (Oh forgot, i'm supposed to be studying for exams, well well what a great time for the book to come)

Arrived in today's mail (the third book today - a little record) - will give my best to be creative... and send it one as soon as I have an address =:o))) Thanks a lot for letting me participate!!!

Released on Monday, December 22, 2003 at Sent to fellow bookcrosser in Frankfurt (Oder), Brandenburg Germany.

I tried to be creative (unfortunately most deco stuff is still in moving boxes...) and sent it on last Friday. Have fun and Thanks again for having me included!!!
-----
Edit on Friday, Feb 13 I am quite worried by now that it got lost... Maybe the fact that Muffin (who signed this book) died shortly after having sent this on was a bad sign already?????????? I really hope not... please book, appear again!!!!

Journal Entry 22 by IACBY from Shaker Heights, Ohio USA on Sunday, March 7, 2004
Hey everyone,

Don't give up hope just yet! A few days ago I received books that were sent back at the beginning of december (from France), so... I'm not giving up on the 'doodle' journal yet.

However, if it is truly lost (and I'll give it another extra month to show up), I will start a new journal so everyone else will have fun with it, and just hope the old one does turn up eventually (as all of you worked so hard on it, and I really want to see it and scan it in here!!!!!)

Muffin77, I'm sorry about your muffin... that's sad :o( I hope everything with your school works well (good luck!!!)

*Update (3/8/04): Yazi just pm'd me-- she has the book and will journal it asap! WooHoo! Yay!!! :o) :o) :o)

Journal Entry 23 by Muffin77 from Leipzig, Sachsen Germany on Saturday, March 13, 2004
Phew I am relieved!!!!!!!!!

Journal Entry 24 by yazi on Sunday, March 21, 2004
This book is full of fun doodles and mini artworks! I am so glad that I could be a part of it, and only regret that I won't get to see the finished book!

My apologies for the major delay in this books' travels. I am going through a really horrible divorce. I had to move in less than 24 hours to a different city, and it was packed up, but not entirely forgotten. Add to that, more than a months worth of computer drama (couldn't get to BC) and it has been a very long time. The good news is that I am safe at last, and the book is ready to go! I just need to get a PM from something-zen and it will be on its way ASAP!

My thanks to ICABY, for being so patient about the delay. Your kind thoughts about my situation were also wonderfully healing.

Journal Entry 25 by IACBY from Shaker Heights, Ohio USA on Thursday, April 1, 2004
Hi everyone!

Yesterday I found this message in my mail box... I thought you would all find it to be awesome:

Hello IACBY,

I discovered your page online while surfing some of my book titles. I am
actually the author of Daydreams and Doodles (working with Pablo
Torrecilla, the illustrator). I am so curious about your project and was
wondering (hoping) that perhaps I might have the opportunity to peek at
your project once it was finished? I know that's a lot to ask. Also,
there's a new book by both of us called Scribbles and Secrets. I'd love to
send you a copy or two.
Thanks for responding at your convenience. I think if you respond to this
it will come to my proper e-mail. Hope so.
Happy spring!
Laura Dower

maddiefinn

That's cool! So, I invited bookcrossing's newest member, maddiefinn (Miss Dower), to join the fun and become our honorary member to the ring :o) She gladly accepted and thus she is added to the list.

What can I say... the internet makes the world smaller.

I think your pm is able to send messages but isn't accepting any (or something like that)-- anyways just contact me and I can either pm/e.mail or snail mail you somthing-zen's addy.

Hope all is well with you, and for the rest of you who are randomly getting this message, I apologize... hope everyone is well!

Okay, it is way late so goodnight from here,

This arrived while I was out of town at a conference and so I may have used a couple of my days with it already. Tonight I will curl up in bed and read what people have written and get inspired for my contribution. This should be SOOOOOO much fun !

Journal Entry 35 by ottawabill from Ottawa, Ontario Canada on Sunday, August 29, 2004
I've been a bit introspective this weekend and that has made it a good weekend to complete my pages of the journal. The exercise reminded me of some art projects I have wanted to do for some time using copies of MRI scans of my head that were taken in 1999.

I had copies made of the scanned images intending to do some projects, but this is the first time I will have used one of the images. A photo of part of one of the pages is loaded with this journal entry. That is actaully the inside of my head.

I have messaged the next person in line for the journal and await a response before sendng it on. I will create a release note for when it goes to them.

My regular mail carrier just got back from vacation and discovered that the sub had made a mistake. Our apartment complex has small mailboxes for all of us and then 2 big ones that are used when they can’t cram what we receive in our small box. The sub placed packages for me in one of the large boxes but forgot to give me the key. Today a very apologetic mail carrier left me the key with a nice note. My husband thought my reaction was funny yet typical now that I am a bookcrossing addict. One of the packages was from my mail order prescription company for a med I was starting to wonder about. Once I saw that the other 3 packages were books my meds were thrown aside. Books beat meds any day. :) I am sure you were wondering why it was taking so long for your book to reach me. Media mail is slow but not that slow.

I must saw that I am in awe of this book. There is just so much to take in and I think I just need time to let it all sink in. Plus I need to fight the intimidation factor. All those before me have down such amazing work when I quickly peeked.

Thanks so much Reut for sending this out. I had totally forgotten about it and I am thrilled. I think of you often and hope med school is going well. :)

Journal Entry 56 by futurecat from Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand on Wednesday, February 1, 2006
Sorry to interrupt - I'm just trying to clean up some of the extraneous font tags that are making the colours run into other journal entries for some browsers.

A note for those using colours in their journal entries. You may not realise that your colour changes can mess up future journal entries unless you close them off properly. For every font=whatever tag, you need to add another tag with /font (inside angle brackets, of course) after the text you wanted to change the colour of.

e.g. (replacing angle brackets with [ ] so they'll show up):

Wrong: This is red. This is green.

Right: This is red. This is green.

If you leave out the /font tag, then for some browsers the last colour you used will just take over the rest of the page (and can sometimes cause other weird things to happen too, even if the last colour you used was black). Which is why I've made this journal entry. At the beginning of it I've added a whole load of /font tags to hopefully get things back to normal again for the next journallers.

I'll now return you to your regularly scheduled programming :-)

Once I unearthed this journal from its hiding spot under my husband’s side of the bed I had a great time reading and journaling. It was intimidating at first to make my own doodles but I loved it once I started.

I was thrilled to get this book at the end of the ring, as I was able to enjoy all the previous BCer’s work. Thank you Ottawabill for giving me an idea of what to do with my own MRIs. There are so many fantastic artists within the BC community. I loved the photos and stories of the pets too. It was nice to see that I am not the only person with a pet who loves yogurt. :)

Thank you so much IACBY for sharing this book with all of us. I plan to buy a copy to give as a graduation gift this year.

It will be fun to see what Laura Dower and Pablo Torrecilla think of all the artwork. It is now heading their way.

Hello everyone,

I've pm'd and emailed maddiefinn (Laura Dower) 3 times with no reply. I still hope that our wonderful creation will turn up again soon. As I truly believe she is the actual author and not just someone that wanted to take the book from us, I will keep trying until I get a response.

I just checked her website and she hasn't made a blog entry there since November 2005...so we aren't the only ones who haven't heard from her lately. But she has an e-me option on the website so maybe if each of e's her and tells her we're interested in her reaction maybe she'll find the time to get to us?

Hopefully nothing bad is going on in her life that keeps her from things she enjoys. her website is neat and makes her seem like a really fun person.

Hooray! Just heard from maddiefinn! The book is not lost, and will be on its way soon. I am very excited to see this amazing creation!

This is for maddiefinn:
Laura, I emailed you via bookcrossing PM. If that didn't go through, let me know via a msg here so I could send you my address again.

Journal Entry 62 by IACBY from Shaker Heights, Ohio USA on Thursday, July 5, 2007
All I can say is... Wow!!!
This wonderful amazing creation just arrived on my doorsteps today... This book has been traveling for 4 years, and now it is back home. I am simply speechless.

There have been several of you who wanted to see the book again (I don't blame you)-- I will contact Tangerine Press, and will ask for permission to scan our completed book (or rather, take piccies with a digital camera because this book is too large for the scanner) so we can share it that way.

My own special treat was to see Dayana's entries. 'Dayana' is my mom, and sadly she passed away this May after several long and courageous battles. She was much to young to die, but she filled her life as well as ours with happiness, love and joy. She was, is, and will always be my inspiration; seeing her amazing creation from four years ago was simply wonderful... I can't wait to share it with my dad and brother.

Thank you for everyone who participated-- this is just an amazing collection of pure talent!

Are you sure you want to delete this item? It cannot be undone.
