This was a very enjoyable read with many laugh-out-loud scenes. It's a nice alternative to Jane Austen's books, where a woman's happiness depends on the match she makes in marriage; in Cranford, there are very few men in the town so the women are dependent only on themselves and each other for happiness and fulfillment.
