Journal Entry 5 by jsmeltser from Fort Madison, Iowa USA on Thursday, June 12, 2008
I took this one from nynjagrrls's 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die bookbox. I've been reading one book off of the list for every 'other' book that I read. Thanks for putting this box together nynjagrrl!

I have to admit that when I read the back cover of this one, I rolled my eyes and thought that reading it would be a real chore. "Elaine must come to terms with her own identity as a daughter, a lover, an artist, and a woman..." For a guy who mostly reads 'pulp' like James Patterson and some scifi here and there, this didn't look promising. Boy, was I wrong! This was a very touching story that at times made me fear for what my daughters are or soon will be facing, and helped me to understand why my wife can be so frustratingly foreign at times.

I'm so glad that I decided to start reading the 1001 Books, as I've been introduced to some wonderful reads that I would never have picked up otherwise!

I'll be saving this one for the next 1001 bookbox I join.

Journal Entry 8 by k00kaburra from San Jose, California USA on Wednesday, May 27, 2009
I'm debating whether I want to keep this book or not. A copy of this book briefly paused in San Jose back in February 2007 and in April 2008 I registered another copy, but I don't think I've ever actually considered reading the book before.

I didn't have a chance to read this one, but storage limitations are telling me to release this since I don't have a place to let it keep sitting in Mt. TBR.
