I loved Sarah Hall's The Electric Michaelangelo, so I was looking forward to reading this one.
Based on a much changed England in the future, it tells the story of Sister, and her attempts to escape this new repressive world.
The story telling is vivid and I loved it all. My one small cristism is that it was almost too short, and the ending too abrupt, but thinking about it not sure I can imagine a more satisfactory ending.

Many thanks for this book. Looking forward to starting on it tonight!
Loved this book. I've not read any Sarah Hall before but certainly will now that I've read this one.
I found I was drawn along by the realistic scenes and the wonderful characters adrift in the 'familiar but unfamiliar' landscapes in a strangely prophetic society very reminiscent of the undercurrents of today!
Sister was a good strong character and her development well charted. Although the ending was abrupt, I felt it was rightly so and also could not imagine how else it would have ended.
Many thanks for sharing this wondeful book which will now go on to another bookcrosser as part of her wishlist for an NSS.
