I really like Alice Hoffman and this one has a beautiful cover.

The narrator, who is never named, makes a wish that she be struck by lightning and then...she is. She then falls for another lightning strike survivor. In a way the character is both unlikeable and likeable. I wished the ending would have been different but understand why it had to end the way it did. Alice Hoffman really knows how to use words beautifully and create magic within her stories.
