Magic Bites (Kate Daniels Series, Book 1)
4 journalers for this copy...
In theory I did like this. I read it to the end and did enjoy it. However I felt alot of explanation was missing about certain things. I also didn't warm to the main character too much. Also there were lots of characters in this book and I found it hard to keep up with who was who.
So I am 50/50 on this one but it is worth reading. I will book out for the second book 'Magic Burns' when it comes out.
WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Initially, this book started out a little slow for me and I didn't care much for how the vampires were portrayed. Guess I like them more romanticized than monsters. It definitely picked up as it went along though and I like Kate's personality and snappy wit. I also like how she portrayed her shifters. Being interesting to see how things develop with Corwin. It's always refreshing to find a new twist in a PUF series and Andrews has definitely managed that with her imaginative outlook of magic and how it affects the non-magic world. I'll be looking to acquire the second book in this series. In fact I'll probably keep my eye out for a copy of this one for my PC.
This is off to ladiibbug from the April PUFS ALS.
This book combines fantasy (magic) with paranormal (vamps, were's of every imaginable type), plus the odd Impala Worm and flying snakes (YES!).
I liked the paranormal aspects and the writing, but I'm not that big a fan of magic/fantasy (enchanted swords, etc.), so I quit reading around page 75.
Those who enjoy both fantasy/magic and paranormal will probably enjoy this book tho.
