About the book: "At the uppermost edge of the northern kingdoms lies Southmarch Castle. For hundreds of years it has remained isolated from the affairs of empire but now it is under siege: from both its neighbours, without, and the more insidious enemies who would destroy it from within.

Even further to the north, within the ancient walls of Qul-na-Qar, the Twilight People gather to hear the blind king Ynnir pronounce the dark fate of human kind. In the south, the Autarch now looks to extend his domain yet further. It is upon Southmarch that the armies advane, and on its people that darkness will fall: for a war is coming that will shake the world."

Still reading this one. And embarassingly I have just found out that I have a hard cover version sitting on my RL-shelf as well.

As usual Tad Williams takes about 800 pages to get the story going. Still I liked the 1st book and I am looking forward to reading the next book of this story.

Das Buch soll jetzt ein Ray werden!

Teilnehmer sind:

1. Delfinetti
2. Rotewoelfin

4 Buchringe (in Summe 419+848+354+431=2052 Seiten!)
2 Audioring

Edit 29.02.2008:
Oh, English book! Well this one starts as the others by Tad Williams that I have read, slow and confusing. At the beginning a huge amount of people are introduced, and you don´t know if any of them will be important and you have to remember about them. In the book there are constantly new people turning up, but at least after the first 300 pages you get a hang who is important, and who is not. But nonetheless a big Chart with all the people and their relations would be realy helpful. After the first 300 or so pages the story realy gets going. What was a bit disturbing, was that the autor changes between places and viewpoints about every two pages and there is seldom more tham five pages at a time without an interuption. I don´t think it was this bad in the "Drachenbeinthron". But to tell the truth I think this story is more intersting. After the first 200 pages my reading realy picked up speed and I read the rest in two evenings. Too bad it has to stop again! in the middle of the plot at a very exciting point! So you should read on with the next part - or risk forgetting what has happend so far! Because this plot is realy complex, and as I said, there are lots and lots of characters! I liked the plot after the story realy started up, but as with "Drachenbeinthron" I can not realy motivate myself for the next part, at least not at the moment...To many other good books and espacally rings! Thanks a lot for this ring - I might get back to the series at a later point of time.

I send Rotewoelfin a PM about her adress. It will travell on as soon as I have it.

So I finally finished reading the book :) I really enjoyed reading the book - only the last 150 pages were hard reading - this was not the fault of the book. I think I had too much of Tad Williams in the last months and so finally couldn't read any word more of him. But as I said, yesterday I read the last pages :) I liked most of the characters, some more, some less. There are surely more things to discover in the following books. I would like to read them, maybe not in the next few weeks, but in two or three months :)

Thank you for sharing this book. Sending it to Schneefee today :)

this is a book I was really, really looking forward to - and it reached me just when I had to decide between two dear hobbies: reading and music :-(
I decided to spend more time practising for my band to be good enough to join the Military Tattoo in Edinburgh in 2010 (if there'll really be a German Massed Band) so I had to cut off my reading time (as well as fairly many other things - I'm SO a sheer career bitch ;-D).
Anyroad, I'm the last one in this ray so far, so I hope it'll be okay to keep this monstrous heavy book a while longer - if there'll be more readers and I haven't finished, pls simply PM me!

Journal Entry 8 by Schneefee from Hagen, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Monday, March 8, 2010
well, it took me quiiiiiiiiiite a while to
a) start
b) continue
c) finally finish
this book - because I actually didn't like it THAT much. Well, I actually DID finish it, so it isn't that bad, but it wsn't as absorbing as "Drachenbeinthron". I don't think I'll ever read the other book, surely not in the next months. A pity, because actually the story should be interesting and just my cup of tea.

Journal Entry 10 by AdoraBelle86 from Leipzig, Sachsen Germany on Tuesday, April 20, 2010

I already read the two "introductions" and they sound really fascinating and ominous - "... what begins here is the ending of world." *shiver*
