Technothriller with reasonable science but scant regard for history. I read it years ago, when it was being much talked about, and liked it enough to buy my own copy, but I think it's only really worth it for the game Pontifex - the patience game that encodes and decodes secret messages...

I've wanted to read Neal Stephenson for a long time...but waiting to find some in charity shops.
Magically found this book at the services when I stopped, about 9 hours ago.
The number one author I'd like to read magically dumped into my hands....I've already got two more people who want to read it when I'm done.
