From back cover: "Indians usually wait til just before daybreak," said the scout. "We've got a few hours yet."
"There's a white man's hand in this deal," replied Anderson. "We might stand off a big force of Injuns, an' white outlaws too, if they fight the way frontiersmen are used to. But any redskins, even half-drunk, will rush us. You'll have to kill them to stop them. Our only hope is to keep 'em outside the circle. We've got one chance in a thousand."
Half an hour later, the first Indian shot rang out. The bloody battle for the wagon train had begun.

I reread this book, I liked it better when I was younger.
