This was bought from Ebay and was meant to be released in Yorkshire, halfway up a hill, but I fancy reading it instead!

Incredible. I saw the film about 5 years ago and thought it was pretty amazing, but the book is incredible. You really get a sense of the desolation felt by both Joe and Simon through the writing. Simon really had no choice but to make the cut and I defy anyone else not to do the same in the circumstances.

An excellent read, I will offer this to some friends who may enjoy it.

I found this a very moving and scary book. I didn't understand some of the mountaineering terms so couldn't always visualise the climbing process but found it very interesting and very emotional. I still can't imagine how both men survived, particularly how Joe had the strength to carry on. Wow!!

This is now off to OnlyLiana. Get the tissues out.

Arrived safetly this morning. Just finishing up another book then will start with this.

Journal Entry 8 by OnlyLiana from Sheffield, South Yorkshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, October 7, 2008
I found this quite hard to get into, the first part of the book was too much about the climbing for my liking. I didn't understand a lot of the terminology but after Joe's accident I found it much easier to get into as it was less about the climbing making it more relateable. An amazing story of survival. It just seems impossible that a person could survive in such conditions.

I read this book in one sitting last night. Even though I'm not a climber, it gripped me the whole way through. I actually felt physically sick reading it, I was so terrified for Joe and the empathy was terrifying, stupid vivid imagination! I haven't been so moved by a book in a long time, I was physically shaking by the time I finished, and having been frantically turning pages for a couple of hours by the time I finished I just burst into tears, the emotion was just overwhelming. Something in this book really grabbed me with such a soul-wrenching force, I've really never read anything like it! Anyway, sending on to the next reader today..

Received this from Mazzlestar this morning! Apparently my mum used to know Joe Simpson - they played together when they were younger. Should be an interesting read!

I thought this book was amazing, I have been completly antisocial the past few days as I have been reading it. Joe speaks about his ordeal in the most amazing way as he talks about the "voice" that tells him to continue and he obeys whilst singing along in his head to pop tunes. He plays down his courage and what an amazing feat his survival was. I was glued to the book. I think Simon made the right choice with the rope there was nothing more he could do.

I will PM Bug2004 now for an address and get this sent on quickly. Thanks so much for sharing.
