Bill Bryson is one of the wackiest authors of the present day. He describes his attempt at conquering the might Appalachain Trail starting from Springer Mountain in Georgia to the peak of Mt. Katahdin in Maine, along with his goofball of a friend.

I brought this home from tonight's BookCrossing Meet-Up! I've read it, but I hope to share it with a friend or two. I may add it to the next round of the Nonfiction Virtual Bookbox!
What a great story for all of us middle-aged wannabe athletes!
Sending this off to share with Jenny (busybusybee) in Louisiana in a book trade! I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did!
What wonderful timing!! I just finished a reading group book this morning and I was pondering what book to start next. The question is now answered!! Thanks debnance!!
This book is roll on the floor, laugh out loud combined with a frank discussion of our earth's forests and resources through interesting historical research by the author. Bill Bryson's walking companion - "Katz" - absolutely made the book for me and I laughed so hard that I cried :) when he and Katz were walking. This is my first book to read by this author but certainly not my last!! Available for immediate release if you are interested.
