The Chase (BookRay)
5 journalers for this copy...
For many many years Clive Cussler turns out fascinating thrillers. Most about ships, the sea and thrilling adventures of the like. "The Chase" is different. set in 1906 in the American west; with an extraordinary bank robber turned banker. There is a lot of railway in it - the chase with two racing steam engines would make a tremendous scene in a movie! And even the great earthquake that distroyed San Francisco in that year is in it! A page turning quick read, for all the fans of Clive Cussler - and others as well.
I'm making a bookray out of it.
The following bookcrossers read along:

"BrooklinBrat" from Brooklin, Ontario, Canada

This one is off to "Perryfran". Enjo!
Received today - thanks book-man-8 for including me in this one - I'm really looking forward to it. When I heard this book was coming out earlier this year, I definitely wanted to read it because of the Western setting (I grew up in Utah and read a lot of Westerns as a kid). So when I got your email, I jumped at the chance! Hope to get to it soon but I do have a couple of books in front of it. I also like the postcard - interesting artwork.
I loved this book. I hadn't read a good Western in years - this book makes me want to read more. Definitely a change of pace for Cussler -- being set in the American west in 1906, but it still had all the action of a good Cussler story. Having grown up in Utah, this covered a lot of familiar territory from Arizona to San Francisco to Flathead Lake in Montana. The book also included many historical details and personages such as the San Francisco earthquake, Tesla and AC electricity, Jack London, etc. But the main attraction was the nonstop action in the pursuit of a vicious bank robber! Thanks book-man-8 for another great read.
Will be getting this in the mail to BrooklinBrat tomorrow.

On its way to BrooklinBrat in Ontario, Canada.
Enjoy!
This arrived at least a week ago!
Did my usual, checked the mail in the evening and headed straight upstairs with the book, forgetting to journal it first!
I'm halfway through it now. So far, not a bad story. I'm finding the writing a bit old-fashioned with a lot of run-on sentences. I'm not sure if Cussler did this on purpose to make it seem like it was written when the story took place.
book-man-8: If you could send me your current address, I'll do my best to get this in the mail as soon as I'm finished it.
Not great literature, but a fun read just the same. I enjoyed it.
Thanks for including me book-man-8.
On its way back to Germany 1/28/08
I just got it back from "Brooklinbrat" and it's now immediately off to "Lindyloumac" in Italy (travelling through Germany as Italy takes money for all the mailings coming from outside EU...).

Book has arrived safely this morning. Will start reading it this week. Thank you LindyLouMac.
An entertaining read! It was good to read again a fast-paced fiction without any high-tech weapons. Many thanks Book-man-8 for having included me.
Shall I send you the book back?
