THE STORIES OF THREE GENERATIONS OF A PROMINENT DANISH FAMILY PARALLEL AND ECHO ONE ANOTHER: an eighteenth-century bishop and his mercenary sister quarrel over their brother, a cantankerous dwarf; in the eighteen-nineties, a languid young housewife slowly goes mad as her horrified husband looks on; and two middle-aged American siblings find themselves opposed, in different ways, to the electronic age.
Sending as a RABCK. Enjoy!
This has now arrived safely in Edinburgh! Thank you so much lauraloo29!
This was an interesting book with a story about three generations of a family. I liked that they were each separated by many years. The cover said it was a family saga, but I would really disagree with that description. Of the three narratives, I think the one I enjoyed reading the most was that of Grethe and Holger, although I did like Paula and Philip's encounter with Rosted's elderly ex-neighbour. I got a bit fed up with the Counselor being described as monstrous all the time. Thanks for sending this one to me Lauraloo29, it was an interesting book and I don't think I would have come across it otherwise.
And off it goes in the Random Book Box. Happy reading!
This has arrived with me in the returned Random bookbox.
Sadly, I found this difficult to get into. I agree with bookfrogster that the tale of Grethe and Holger was the one that most held my interest, but I'm afraid I actually gave up on this book as I was finding it so difficult to keep interest in any of the three storylines as they were just too broken up by each other for me.
I shall put this into a bookbox as I'm sure that it deserves other more appreciative readers.
