Hand in Glove

Without doubt the greatest suspense writer in the know universe! I have read and reread all Goddard's books, and never once worked out "whodunnit" untill the author reveals all in the last moments. In fact, though I'm registering this today, I might just have to read it again before I release it!
Sent to johnevelyn, who spotted it on my bookshelf. I hope he enjoys it as much as I did!
Kindly sent by acol56 and read on travel. Most enjoyable and as with so much of Robert Goddard we find ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances imposed on them by revelations about the past. The hero and heroine are less down-and-out than many in Goddard and seemingly more innocent. They have a growing ability to cope with the problems that surround them so that you come to admire their tenacity. The story examines questions of authorship to poems about the experiences in the Spanish Civil War and this is linked to even darker events of the time. There is something of Elizabeth and Darcy in the two main characters who we know will grow to love each other, despite circumstances that seem bound to prevent any affection.
