Retired lawyer Andy Carpenter remembers every dog that’s come through the Tara Foundation’s doors, but the most well-known alum of the dog rescue organization that Andy founded in Paterson, New Jersey, may be Mamie. Adopted by famous actress Jenny Nichols―Andy’s high school girlfriend―the miniature French poodle is now practically a starlet in her own right.

I received this Advance Reader Copy from the Goodreads Giveways. Thanks to Goodreads and Minotaur Books.
I was a bit worried about reading this because no one would call me an "animal person" and I was worried it was going to have psychic dog that solves cases or something equally ridiculous.
It turned out to be a fairly cozy mystery where the lawyer and the accused murderer just happen to have dogs. In fact, the title seems so completely out of place as the floppy eared dog is barely mentioned and there's really no indication of any one who is "drop dead gorgeous".
The mystery was entertaining and the characters likeable. I think this is the last book in the series of 27 novels but the characters were defined enough that it made no difference that I've never read any of the previous novels.
