Just recently bought this book on October 5th, 2007 and it's still in shrink wrap. :P I'm gonna save reading this until later, since I don't have time for it yet.

For one, I was planning to get Paul Auster's Travels in the Scriptorium but I didn't see it on the shelves. Instead what caught my eye was Weapons of Choice, and as an alternate history fan with a wallet big enough for this big book, I snapped up this book without any hesitation. I only hope that I won't regret taking this gamble!

John Birmingham is a freaking genius to have come up with an Alternative History thriller. Plus, he has the balls to stick through his novels thick and thin. This novel was the first ever book I touched ever since my final exams ended, and I'm happy to admit that I gulped down this book ferociously (prolly like a T-Rex that found itself transported into a stadium full of people)!

The only sour part of Weapons of Choice was when Birmingham devoted chunks of his book to the point when the 1942 Midway fleet faced off with the 2021 Multinational UN force. It pretty much stretched my patience too thin, and the staggering amount of characters on board didn't help either. Apart from that, I absolutely have no other gripes. This book is the perfect starting point for any alternative history enthusiast. :)

8/10 because Birmingham can give Tom Clancy a run for his money.
