I wasn't sure what to expect from this book... would it be an Anthony Bourdain-esque trip around the world? Would it be like Andrew Zimmermin on the travel channel? Whatever one could compare it to, I was pleasantly surprised with this book... I loved Tom's writing style. It felt like he was just speaking to you, describing his experiences... he wrote in a way that was easily relateable and drew you quickly into the story. I was sad when I reached the end!
Albeit, there were some slower parts... and some parts that I doubt I could ever read again (namely the dog soup section...). Tom however brings the reader into many different worlds of foods (eating contests! elvers! china!) and I would highly recommend this book to anyone even vaguely interested in travel or food.
