I read this book while on vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and I don't know if I was distracted because I'm on vacation and so much is going on, or if I just couldn't follow the book and get into it because it's just not the book for me.

In the beginning, it was the author's long sentences that nearly put me off; I often found myself rereading them to be sure I put the correct emphasis on the words. In the middle, she starts jumping back and forth in time, from one war to another an back again. Perhaps this was done to show that all wars are the same, or to assure us that certain characters survived to wage another war. I'm not sure. In the end, she uses cryptic metaphors to try and tie up all the loose ends but by this time, I was just trying to get to the last page. Overall, I was expecting more from this book than it delivered.

Congratulations--you caught a book!
It may have seemed odd to find this lying around, but rest assured it's not lost and it's not forgotten. Feel free to read it, pass it on to a friend, or release it in the wild like I did. You can even keep it, if you like, but are books really happy when they're just sitting on a shelf? I'd have to say no.
