CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Posted today in a book trade. Maybe these books will cross paths halfway.....somewhere over India.
Arrived home from holidays today and found this in the mail. All the way from Scotland. Very cool.
Thanks 1000petal!!! Appreciated.
I didn't particularly like this book, I didn't like the character or really understand the point of the book for much of it. By the end I think I did understood the point, and I probably liked the whole book better than its parts if that makes any sense. I don't understand why this book is so highly acclaimed and well known. It wasn't a waste of time to read it, but not by much, it is certainly the least enjoyable book I've read for a for some time. I guess just because many many others like this book doesn't mean I have to.
Will either RABK this to another bookcrosser randomly or by request. Ask for it if you would like it. I received it as a RABK so would like to keep it moving in the same way.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Dropped in the mail for
foxygirlACT as an RABK.
Received in the post today from KrazyKangaroo. thanks!!
I wanted to read this book because it is famous (was found on the guy who shot John Lennon) and because a lot of people rave about it. I have to agree with KrazyKangaroo that I didn't really see much of the point to the story. I did enjoy reading from the perspective of a strange character, but the story didn't seem to have much of an aim to it. If anything, it was like a journal that just suddenly stopped.
I didn't mind it, but would be interested to learn why people love it so much.
Anyway, as it was sent to me as a RABCK, and since 'm sure there will be others who want to read it, I'll either send out as a Book Ray or send to someone else who has wished for it.
To be released as an international bookray starting in Australia.
You are still welcome to pm me and join the bookray- you will either be added to the end of the reading order or slotted in depending on your location.
Some Guidelines
* When you receive the book, make a quick journal entry so we all know it’s safe in your hands. If you can, include an estimate of how long you think it will take you to read it.
* Read the book at your own pace, but try to keep to a maximum of one month. If you’re taking more than a month, add an extra journal entry to let us know where you’re at with the book.
* Once you’ve finished it, make a journal entry with your thoughts on the book.
* Continue the ray by sending a Private Message to the person after you on the bookring list and request their postal address. Please check back here for the latest distribution list.
* Post the book off to the next person, noting that you have done so.
Please keep your journal entries up-to-date so we know who the book is currently with, or whether it is still in the postal system.
If you are the last person on the list, see if you can get more members so that we can keep the book travelling as long as possible.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this - many thanks for the opportunity foxygirl. Am posting on to Project-X on Friday.
Got this in the post yesterday and I'm almost done reading it! It's quite a good read. Will post it out some time this week :)
9 Feb/09: I really liked this book, couldn't put it down! PMing kbmarsh for address so I can pass it on. :D
Thank you for the ring!
Excellent read even if it wasn't the book I thought it was, I kept waiting for the court case to start!
having realised it as a different book entirely I'm glad to have read it. Brilliant writing and hopefully the author had an amazing imagination to come up with something so thought provoking. Yes, nothing much happened but it was about a state of mind and doesn't seem to have been intended to be a "story". It will cotinue on it's way on 5th July as the next person is on holiday and has asked me to delay it so tht it doen't get lost.
arrived this morning.
i'll start it in a few days, after finish reading an other bookring.
thanks karen07814
i had a nice reading, i enjoyed some parts of the book but i wouldn't suggested it to anyone as a must-read book.
i think it is overestimated
i'm waiting for pitluv4's address so as to send her the book.
thanks foxygirlACT

Hi All, Really nice! I received it nicely packed in the post yesterday from South Africa. thanks!! I will read it and send it forward :)
I just finished reading it. My first impression was it is quite annoying book, it has too much of America on it for my taste. The words that most come are „dough“ and „lousy“ with a totally stressful repetition of „and all“...
Like Elpis just said I also wouldn’t suggest it to anybody as a must read book, in fact you are not missing anything.
Well anyway the reading wasn’t that bad after all, it got a little entertaining. It is missing something though like an End, but it sort of fits it.
I think many people can enjoy it depending of ones expectations and literary requirements.
I will send it as soon as I get SuNotisima’s address

The book arrived today. Thanks! I'll start reading now :)
Interesting read, but it starts out pretty slow and I do understand finding it annoying.
It's not that bad, but I wouldn't say it's something like a "must-read", I expected more from it being so famous.
Anyway, I'll send it forward as soon as I get teapot's address. See how you'll like it :)

It arrived on my birthday! Thanks very much SuNotisima. Will start reading right away then send to next person.
I wish I had read this when I was younger! Though I wonder if I might not have really understood it then... This is definitely a book that takes several readings to really 'get' it. On the surface it's just a cynical young boy's commentary on 'phony' people that annoy him, however reading between the lines subtly suggests that this is a very troubled and alienated young man who is struggling with his impending adulthood and his place in society in general. The author very cleverly has the protagonist, a very unreliable narrator, say one thing, yet mean something different, and making the things left unsaid just as important as those stated. For example Holden repeatedly considers speaking to Jane, a girl he obviously has feelings for, yet does not, claiming he is 'not in the mood', when in fact he is just too nervous and uneasy about the fact that she is out on a date with his roommate. His viewpoint is obviously skewd due to his impending mental breakdown, illustrated in the dialogue between Sally and Holden, when she repeatedly asks him not to shout, yet he claims not to have been shouting at all. Observing the other characters, and their reactions to him will often reveal more about what is going on then the narration itself.
Is on its way now to disneyfreaksam, the next person on the list.
Thank you very much. Got it this morning. I will read it asap and pass it on
21/05/10 - Absolutely loved it.
