The first of the Navajo series.
Homicide is always an abomination, but there is something exceptionally disturbing about the victim discovered in a high lonely place - a corpse with a mouth full of sand, abandoned at a crime scene devoid of tracks or useful clues. Though it goes against his better judgement, Navajo Tribal Police Lieutnant Joe Leaphorn cannot help but suspect the hand of a supernatural killer...

From all I heard this is one of the most read series of mysteries. I am looking forward to read it.

I give this book five points, although it's a bit difficult to decide whether I really like it or not. It's been a slow read for me, mainly probably because I don't know much (or nearly nothing) about Navajo traditions and mystizism. Reading about that, however, was the most interesting part of the book. Apart from that I feel that it leaves much to be desired. From what I understand is that this is a Joe Lephorn-novel, but the main character in this novel seems to be McKee, about whom we get no closer information. The plot itselves is floating between reality and the supernatural. Well, after all I think I have to say: It's not my kind of book.
As soon as I have Haltestelle's address I'll send it on.

Hmm... This wasn't an easy reading, as the others mentioned before. I tried to ignore the indian words I don't know and made my way throuh the story. It was ok, but not as thrilling as I expected and nothing which let me want to read more of Hillerman.

Going to ship it as soon as I get message from LillyAnn.
