My 450th Registered Book! It has a different cover to the one pictured here.
Amazin.co.uk Synopsis:
Through every family run memories which bind it together - despite everything. The Tulls of Baltimore were no exception. Abandoned by her salesman husband, Pearl is left to bring up her three children alone - Cody, a flawed devil, Ezra, a flawed saint, and Jenny, errant and passionate. Now as Pearl lies dying, stiffly encased in her pride and solitude, the past is unlocked and with its secrets.

I have a love/hate relationship with Anne Tyler. I thought A Patchwork Planet was for the most part brilliant and I feel the same about this, although it took a while to grow on me. But I have the same complaint about this one as I had A Patchwork Planet. Anne Tyler is CRAP at writing endings to novels. This time she just went on a paragraph too long. If she'd cut the airy-fairy crap and just let the people walk up the road to dinner, then it would've been nigh-on perfect.
But OH NO. She had to try and be all airy-fairy and look-at-me-I-won-the-Pulitzer!
Seriously woman. Get a grip!
So yes, this one comes recommended, just ignore that last paragraph.
And please, try the fish.
