A friend turned me onto the books written by Nelson DeMille. I believe I got this as a bargain book from Waldenbooks in Greensburg, Pa.

I'm giving this book a 1 for excessively graphic violence and cruelty to animals as well as characters I couldn't give a hoot about. The premise was promising--an ex-spy goes back home after the Cold War is over and begins a second life. I slogged through 300 pages of nothing happening on a farm in Ohio and thought I was finally to be rewarded for my patience when the action shifted to Washington, D.C., but I was mistaken. There were no bad guys except some really stereotypically twisted small-town cops and too many do-good romantics. Perhaps this book will find an appreciative reader somewhere in the world.
