I got this from my niece who had to read it for school. It's been sitting on my bookshelf for awhile waiting for me.
It's appalling what hatred and bigotry give one permission to do when given free rein. I can't imagine enduring what Melba Beals and the Little Rock Nine did to integrate Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, in the 1950s. That they all came out of it with their lives is truly amazing considering the violence that they faced every single day. Their courage in the face of such madness, is truly inspiring.

Thank you for helping me with my display and give-away for Black History Month. I am making a display about finding "hidden" stories of blacks both in history and in everyday life. This will be at the National Park site where I work. I hope the visitors enjoy the display and take the book they admire most. If, perhaps due to weather, we don't have many visitors in February we do have a special school program in April (One Community- One Book- for students) and I will attempt to make bookcrossing books available then as well. (Our theme for April is the Underground Railroad)
