Fighting Ruben Wolfe
4 journalers for this copy...
This is a story about two brothers, Ruben and Cameron Wolfe, from a troubled but loving family. They become involved with a dodgy boxing promotor and start taking part in a boxing competition. During this time they learn about the importance of loyalty, love and family.
The book is an earlier work by Markus Zusak, the author of The Book Thief. More information about the book is available here and here.
It's a YA/teenagers' book, but I'm sure adults who like children's fiction will enjoy this as well.

Safely arrived. I recently read The Book Thief, a marvellous book, so I am greatly looking forward to this....much shorter though!

Signs of brilliance. There was sharp, punchy dialogue and gentler, rounded brotherly loyalty. I admit it, I hurt at the end and will read anything by Markus Zusak that I can find. Thank you klaradyn for the chance to read Finding Ruben Wolfe.
Off to find an address to send it on.

This book arrived today (thanks for the reindeer sprinkles Cross-patch - they are all over my floor lol).
I am half way through a book right now so I will start this one as soon as the other is finished. Thanks for the opportunity to read this book klaradyn.

What a fantastic book! While it was written as teen fiction, Markus Zusak managed to take me on a journey into the minds of two loyal brothers surviving in a tough, lower working class, existence. It made me homesick as I read about various Sydney suburbs, streets and landmarks and I think that these boys could have quite easily been related to kids that I knew growing up in suburban Australia.
Whilst this book was not quite the calibre of TBT, anyone who loves a good story about life, with depth and emotion would thoroughly enjoy this journey of two teenage boys learning about who they are and what is important in life.
I highly recommend it.

I put this book in the Oz virtual book box and it was requested almost immediately (as one would expect) so it is heading off in tomorrow's post. I hope the next reader enjoys this book as much as I did.
