I hung onto this one long enough to read it, and I LOVED IT! I can't believe I took so long to read this book about four kids left on their own after their father dies. He has several instructions to daughter Mary Call, and one was for him to be buried on the mountain with no one knowing about it. Ideally he was probably concerned that the four children would be split up, and indeed, that's exactly what 14 year old Mary Call tries to keep from happening.
I love stories where kids "rise above" the occasion even when adults (who tend to fail them) aren't around. Mary Call is my hero...she always trying to come up with an idea to get out of troubles and scrapes, and her idea of "wild crafting" was a fantastic one.
I have no clue how I am going to bookcross this one. The book is old and worn, but it's definitely worth the read!!
