''The author has combined an ingenious adventure story with a wonderfully detailed account of the historical background of the Languedoc ... the result is entirely compelling and full of incidental pleasures''

Well - in the end I picked it up - it''s got a nice BCID!
I always think that one of the signs of a good book is that you miss it when you stop reading it. I gave this book a break about half way through, (because it was a bit heavy to carry on a trip) and I did find myself missing it. I liked the way the historical context was brought to life, including the use of Occitan (or langue d'oc), which is very similar to Catalan and I liked the end message of the book, the real secret of the grail. However, although I was really gripped by the last 100 pages or so, the will to make it an action-packed thriller seemed a bit overplayed.
Nevertheless, a good read.
