George is retired and thinks his eczema is actually cancer, throw in his daughter''s wedding, his gay son''s love life and his wife''s affair and it''s about time he had a nervous break down.
Funny and quite touching.

Came in the post 14/8/07. Many thanks. Hopefully it won''t linger in my TBR pile for too long as I''m keen to take it on my holiday in October.
Journal Entry 4 by Korky from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, October 16, 2007
Took this on holiday as one that all my family could read.
I raced through this in less than 2 days as the short chapters by the different family members make it a really easy read. Considering that it was about each of them having their own personal crisis and going into meltdown it was vey entertaining.
Katie's son Jacob seems to have been written from direct personal experience with his attention seeking and tantrums. I particularly laughed at "But Jacob just stamped his feet and said 'I hate you', and huffed off with the hood of his red coat still up, like a very angry gnome."
I'd definitly recommend this book to others.
Having enjoyed "The curious incident of the dog in the night time" and the recent TV drama "Coming down the mountain" that Mark Haddon wrote I'm looking forward to more by this author.
Thanks for the trade Darthangel.

Light easy read. The reviews indicated that this was about the father's late-life breakdown, but it's about all of the family. The characters were fairly 2 dimensional as the book was more about waht happens than the people. I thought the son could do with a slap and was a "token" gay character and that Ray was rather too good to be true. Overall a pleasant holiday read.
KORKY'S MUM.
Funny, perceptive and entertaining novelof a family in crisis...the problems are not always obvious to the people closest...how true to life. This is a great follow up to "curious incident". Easy to read and easy to like.
