I wasn't terribly excited about picking this book up as I've read a number of 'story of my life' novels based in China recently. However, it managed to bring to life for me the spirit of the age, the culture and the people. Easily the best of this genre I've read to date. It's a slow paced, calm book written from the perspective of an 8o year old woman looking back over the mistakes that she made in life & the people she loved. Not normally my cup of tea, but made a very enjoyable change & left me with a warm feeling.

RELEASE NOTES:

On it's way to Chelseagirl very shortly, with abject apologies for not keeping in touch better. As the book is all about a close friendship & how it endures through life's changes, it's rather apt really.
