My mom, AceofHearts, passed away from breast cancer on September 17, 2013. Aside from being one of the best people I know, she was an avid reader and took immense pleasure in Bookcrossing, her book club, and reading many great books. Unfortunately she didn't get around to reading this book.

We had similar tastes in books and would share them whenever we read something we enjoyed. This book sounds interesting so I'm going to keep it to read.

This was an interesting look in to the life of an alcoholic who is sent to rehab thinking it'll be a nice break rather than to actually deal with his problem. The first round of rehab seemed all too simple for him, but I had to remember to take everything with a grain of salt. Though this is supposedly Burroughs' autobiography, you could tell it was embellished and some of the timelines didn't make sense. For example, [SPOILER] near the end of the book he says he had been relapsed longer than he had been sober and then he gets a call from the jeweler a few month's after PigHead's death. PigHead's death caused him to relapse so a few months is not longer than the 9 months he spent sober.

In any case, it was easy to get absorbed by this book and the life that Burroughs was leading. I haven't read his other autobiography about his childhood, which he provides some very interesting and scary glimpses in to, but I'm interested in reading it now.
