When you are a forty something gay New Yorker with a stressful job as a film agent, a fruity assortment of friends and the odd obsessive-compulsive tendency, you may not see yourself as an ideal parent. However, when Ed's sister begs him to take in her daughter - the beautiful, capricious and downright difficult Tiffany - Ed rashly agrees. Soon, his life has turned upside down as he tries to deal with an exasperating but loving teenager while learning to be a parent himself. Their relationship develops from culture shock on both sides to an affectionate tolerance of each other's idiosyncrasies and a shared passion for really bad films. Moving, stylish and appealing, this is a book about growing up, about families, about parenting and about having no idea what to do next.

Wonderful. Moving and engaging and with a revelation towards the end that absolutlely floored me I really didn't want my journey with Ed & Tiffany to end. Can't wait to read more from this author.

Loved this book! I really enjoyed reading the relationship between Eddy and Tiffany and was even happier to find out it was a true memoir and not just fiction. Eddy has a great writing style that makes you feel that you are there with him along for the fun times and headaches. If only everyone had someone as caring as an Uncle Eddy in their life!

It was on my shelf for a bit and I admit with the pale blue cover I thought this was another chic lit, I think part of the reason I hadn't read it yet.

This was an interesting read, I think this shows me again why I don't have children, I do not have the patience of this man. A man who on his own decides to take in his wayward niece without judgement, without teenage skills, without really enough money and trys to make her life better.

Well worth a read

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

My GoodReads review: 'Possibly 2 1/2 stars, but definitely not my favourite read. I usually really enjoy a memoir, but this book has been picked up and quickly put down by me with disinterest several times over the years until I finally decided to give it a chance... I should have just moved it along perhaps. The author failed to draw me into his world, not did his constant coo-ing over the beauty and talents of his revoltingly behaved niece enamour me to their developing relationship.'

Apologies this has sat on Mt TBR for so long! Taking along to the Bris BC 2022 Xmas lunch. If not taken, will be released nearby. I hope you enjoy this travelling book - Kidwrangler :)
