**Then Back To Me***

Please Make a Journal Entry when you receive it and when you are sending it on.

If you want to I think that it would be really cool if everyone made a list for a tape of songs that has a significant meaning to you.

Mailed out today about 10 minutes ago. It is on it's way to ellymae58 in San Diego, California. I included a mixed cd that I made.

My 117th read of 2007.

This was a nice read. I thought it was a great tribute to his late wife, to write about her and the songs that meant something to them and got them through their life together. I thought the whole chapter about Nirvana was a bit indulgent, though. I could have done without that chapter.

This is my favorite quote of the book (which is also the ending):
"Love hurts. Love stinks. Love bites, love bleeds, love is the drug. The troubadours of our times all agree: They want to know what love is, and they want you to show them.

But the answer is simple. Love is a mix tape."

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

Well I was cleaning up my office, going through some BC stuff and organizing books to give away, when it occurred to me that I don't recall seeing the catch information for this book. So when I came to check I discovered to my embarassment that I had forgotten to log in the release information. This book was mailed to starbrightxx about a month and a half ago. My apologies for my mistake.

Nonetheless, I reasoned - the activity of the book should still show up even if I forgot my entry, so then I was worried that the book was lost in the postal system. Thanks to the miracle of modern technology, I was able to use the tracking info right on the USPS website and found that the book has indeed been rec'd. So I am not sure what is going on - I have sent starbright a PM and hopefully we can track it down!

I enjoyed reading this so much. Sheffield is about half a generation older than me (meaning about halfway between my age and my parents' age), so it was interesting to see music-loving from a few years off. I especially enjoyed how I recognized more and more songs as the mix tapes progressed through the years.

The part that affected me most, actually made me tear up a bit (at the laundromat, so embarrassing!) was the whole section that contained this bit: People kept showing me unreasonable kindness, inexplicable kindness, indefensible kindness. People were kind when they knew nobody would ever notice, much less praise them for it. People were even kind when they knew I wouldn't appreicate it.

I've PMed Bibliocrates so as soon as I have an address, the book will move along.

ALSO, I'm going to include one of my favorite mix CDs. This is an older one, not specifically made to go along with the book, but it's one that I still love outside the original context. If anyone else reading the book/this journal entry is interested, just PM me your address and I'd be happy to send you a copy as well!

(I'll paste this same journal entry into the other book's thread as well.)

Sending to Bibliocrates in Alabama. Enjoy!

Like I said, I'm including a mix CD that I would be happy to send to anyone else in the ring. Just send me a PM with your address!

(Cross-posting to the other BCID.)
