The Black Echo

Howdy, reader. This marks my initial book release, so I thought I'd start with something easy: the "airplane novel."
You know what that is, an easy read, requires no thought, has enough plot and action to keep you turning pages, but doesn't distract you with stuff like depth, complex plot twists, or big words. When you have to stop reading, no problem, it will take two sentences before you are right back in the thick of things.
Don't expect a whole lot, The Black Echo is no classic. A "hard boiled" cop/crime novel, complete with misunderstood Vietnam vet as good guy, jackass order-followers to trip him up, hot female FBI sexual interest with a dark secret, and a diabolical bad dude whose minions carry out his dastardly plans as he manages them from afar...or how far away is he? Echo is a predictable but not totally disapointing read - the equivalent of the 2 a.m. network TV insomniac movie. You'll read the book quickly, feel good about the fact that you can tell folks that you knew what would happen, and then wonder if it was really worth your time to read. Then you remember that it is an airplane novel, the time has passed quickly, you've arrived at your destination and can safely move on to a real book! LA Cops and robbers and dead guys and drugs and sex and Vietnam....
May you have a pleasant journey!

I took a long time to read this book, picking it up once or twice a week, usually before bed. I could always get back into the story with no problem. At one point I thought I had already read it some time ago, but then I continued reading and it no longer seemed familiar. Perhaps I started reading it and never finished. I guess I would say it's a book to read when you have nothing else to read. I would recommend a different book called "Tell No One" by Harlan Coben.
I will try to find an unusual place to leave the book - not where I found it.
