The last person Aisling Grey wants to see when she arrives in Budapest is Drake Vireo. A part-time courier and new Guardian (as in to the portals of Hell), all she wants to do is deliver an amulet to a hermit and, hopefully, find herself a mentor at the GODTAM (Guardians, Oracles, Diviners, Theurgists, and Mages) conference, but now she must also deal with Drake, her former lover and current wyvern of the green-dragon sept. While he innocently insists he is only in Budapest for a peace summit, Aisling finds it suspiciously coincidental that this gathering of dragons is taking place at the same hotel as her conference.

Just like the first book this one has amusing dialogs mixed with fantasy and a little horror and a lot of romance. Nice and easy to read. Somehow thrilling as well. And two points that made me angry: this Aisling Grey doesn't need more than come near a handsome guy to throw every emancipatory idea over board and does she ever think before acting? These things just getting worse...

I asked ParadizeApple for some nice-and-easy chicklit to brighten my after-work evenings - and "Fire me up" was a really good catch! It was fun to read, very entertaining. Katie MacAlister's way of writing reminds me a bit of Terry Pratchett.

I think I will leave this book in a Starbucks in Livermore, CA, USA.
