A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius

Maybe it's not fiction. I don't know
Glad I read this book. Written in a kind of stream of consciousness style but I got it. I even understand how the author came by this title. -- Probably in one of his flights of invincibility and power. Excellent, I think, and recommended for people who can take something not written in a traditional style.
The author's parents died of cancer within a few weeks of each other when he was 22. He moved to California with his older sister and younger brother (age 8 at the time) and wound up (with family support) being the primary adult in his brother's life. Think about that. But it's funny, crazy, and also full of emotion. It comes through the stream of consciousness style and the tangent craziness, just how scary and difficult this all was.
Wow.

Received in the mail today
I liked this book. Took a bit to really get into it because of the style of writing (It's like being right in his mind. It's tangent after tangent but I loved it)

Received this one from Ontario through bookmooch.com. I just got it today, haven't started reading it yet, and it might be awhile what with my ever-increasing backlog of books. I checked this place out for the first time a couple weeks ago, thought it was a great idea, but didn't sign up until I received this book.
Ooh, I see I was supposed to name bananabrianna as the one who referred me to this site... hope I can fix that!
