Bought at a library book sale.

This is one of my absolute favorite books ever. It's a story of a group of boys at a boarding school set during World War II. The main characters, Finny and Gene(the narrator), are a mis-matched pair of friends able to feed off each other and push each other as they struggle to cope with events unfolding in their lives and the world around them. The story is deep and dark but is not without amusing moments, vivid images, and wonderful characters I instantly fell in love with.

Finally I have read it and think it is quite a good YA book. It was interesting to see the development of the characters and of Gene and Finnys relationship especially. For me as a German it was interesting to get to know more about life of American boys during WWII and to see how they anticipated their draw any moment.
Thanks for letting me read it, nynjagrrrl! I will now ray it forward to sister-act, who had also wanted to read it back last August.
