'All the beautiful people live in the idyllic village of Stepford, Connecticut, an affluent suburban Eden populated with successful, satisfied hubbys and their beautiful, dutiful wives.
For Joanna Eberhart, a recent arrival with her husband and two children, it all seems too perfect to be true - from the sweet, accommodating Welcome Wagon lady to all those cheerful, friendly faces in the supermarket checkout lines. But just beneath the town's flawless surface, something is sordid and *wrong* - something abominable with roots in the local Men's Association.
And it amy already be too late for Joanna to save herself from being devoured by Stepford's hideous perfection.'

A book re-issued to coincide with the release of the Nicole Kidman film of the same name. Apparently the original version is better - but I haven't seen either! I keep hearing about this book - on and off for years, so for a 79p steal in my local Oxfam shop, I thought I'd take a risk.
Started reading immediately - and it's quiet out there on the streets of Stepford. If something seems too good to be true - could it?

Read in more or less one sitting.
Ooooooo that's really creepy! Joanna gets more and more desperate to escape and there seems to be no hope in sight.
I liked this book, it's a quick, easy read, even though it gave me the shivers. I was pretty much hooked on it immediately, only putting it aside for this weeks ep of 'Dr Who' - well, it is David Tennant!
Making AVL for someone else to enjoy.

Never heard from MillieJinx, so passed on to my friend and former colleague (she left the Civil Service to work for the local Constabulary as a civilian!) Sue R.
Hoping she and her daughter (a veritable fashionista and keen reader) enjoy this one.
