The follow up to Driving Over Lemons. John and I can't wait to read it.

Journal Entry 2 by madmadge from Alderholt, Dorset United Kingdom on Monday, June 11, 2007
John and I have read this book so it's ready to set out on its journeys. It was every bit as good as Driving Over Lemons. His stories about life on the hill farm with his family, the characters he meets and all the animals are very enjoyable and make you feel the real essence of Spain. Makes me wish I could live such a life. It's going to Bookcloud (my little sis) as soon as poss.

I loved this book. It's just as funny as his first IMO. The chapter about the parrot had me falling about laughing. Thanks Madmadge. The book is now on it's way to Maggiemo

Just finished this and on its way to burton11 on Monday. Really enjoyed this again. Every chapter starts a new story, not a lot happens but its a compelling read. I really enjoyed being introduced to all the new characters and felt slightly envious of Chris''s colourful life. However the episode about Christmas sobered me up!!

I enjoyed this follow up to 'Driving Over Lemons'. Coming from Carlisle I had a good chuckle at his circus experiences and introduction to flamenco music! I am very curious by the pool - Think it's something I'd need to see to fully appreciate...

Will get this in the post to collectorkerri tomorrow. Surface mail again seeing as 'DOL' hasn't reached her yet. Thanks for sharing.

Received today. Good thing I'm a fast reader, because 4 bookrings are in front of it.

I enjoyed this book just as much as the original. Chris sure meets some real characters in his travels and at the farm. I'd love to read more stories about life at El Valero and hope he writes some more.

Sending on to the next reader today.

What a fun read! Stewart combines local characters with his adventures/misadventures in Spain, making the book come alive! Many times I found myself laughing out loud.

Sending off to Llyndel in the morning.

Came home from work and found this waiting for me! I just finished Driving Over Lemons a couple days ago and can't wait to get started on this.

Journal Entry 20 by Llednyl from Marysville, Ohio USA on Tuesday, February 26, 2008
Finished this afternoon. I thought this book was even funnier than Driving Over Lemons. I especially enjoyed the bit where Chris goes to the Hay festival to do a reading, lol! And I liked that we got a little more information about his background/life before coming to El Valero. Thanks again for sharing this one - it will be sent to the next reader once I receive an address.

Journal Entry 21 by nynjagrrrl from Elkhorn, Wisconsin USA on Sunday, March 9, 2008
Wow, this book has traveled quite a bit. I will treat it gently and start reading it soon. Driving Over Lemons was a fun book and I look forward to reading this one.

Journal Entry 22 by nynjagrrrl from Elkhorn, Wisconsin USA on Sunday, March 16, 2008
This book wasn't quite as good as Driving Over Lemons but still a fun read. The parrot was quite a character! :) I will send out this book next week.

Journal Entry 23 by mssaver from Chicago, Illinois USA on Thursday, April 24, 2008
Oh, boy! This book just arrived today. Thanks, nynjagrrrl and NMReader, and of course madmadge too!

I hope no one minds if I wait to read Driving Over Lemons first. It looks like it's on its way to Sissyrun, and I'm next on the list. I look forward to reading both of them.

Journal Entry 24 by mssaver from Chicago, Illinois USA on Tuesday, June 24, 2008
Either Stewart mellowed between writing Driving Over Lemons and Parrot in the Pepper Tree, or I mellowed while reading Parrot. It's not often that I like a sequel better than the first book, but I really enjoyed this one. I'll send it off to UnwrittenLibra ASAP.

Journal Entry 25 by UnwrittenLibra from Middleton, Wisconsin USA on Monday, June 30, 2008
Book arrived here in Baltimore, Maryland today...oy. Looks like it has had a rough trip. It'll recuperate for a little while on my TBR list, it's the only bookring I have currently but I have a few books I need to read before this one. Also, I'm a little leery to take it to work with me, so looks like it'll just be an "at-home" read. Thanks again, mssaver!

Journal Entry 26 by UnwrittenLibra from Middleton, Wisconsin USA on Sunday, July 13, 2008
A very entertaining sequel to Driving over Lemons - I was thoroughly satisfied. Not much more to say - the book really speaks for itself.

Since Busyangel is a bit, well, busy at the moment, it's off to descalza05 in California later this week!

Journal Entry 27 by UnwrittenLibra from Middleton, Wisconsin USA on Thursday, July 17, 2008

Journal Entry 32 by Bluestocking88 from -- Wild released somewhere in the state, Washington USA on Monday, December 22, 2008
I have tried to read this, but find the loose pages taped together and falling out to be too distracting for me to finish. I did not get a reponse from my pm's to dicentragirl for her address. I am mailing this home to NMReader to see if it can be repaired so it can continue on it's ring.

This book was returned to me by the mail carrier with a note it needed to be hand delivered to the post office. It went out today. Sorry for the delay. 1/6/09

This little book must have taken a scenic route detour on its way to me, but it is finally here now. Will read right away!

Journal Entry 38 by dicentragirl from Leavenworth, Washington USA on Wednesday, March 11, 2009
I blogged about this book this morning... This is cut and pasted from my blog. :)

This is the sort of sequel to Driving Over Lemons, which I read a couple of years ago. Both books are about a couple’s life in Andulucia, Spain. Non-Fiction

I must say, I think I enjoyed Driving Over Lemons more than this one. Too bad too, because I was really looking forward to it. I do like how each chapter is a different story about the author’s life in Andalucia, but I was expecting to see more of his wife and daughter in the book and less about his personal history.

The chapter about the bird (which the book is named for) annoyed me. I dislike birds. I don’t think they make good pets. They certainly wouldn’t be sticking around my house very long if one was attacking me… But I can see how some people find this chapter funny.

My favorite chapter was the one where he had to write notes to the bus driver and school head master. That was funny!

In general, this is a good book. I’m not sorry I read it, but I won’t be looking for more books by Chris Stewart. Now I need to find out where I am to send this little book so it can continue on its way. 16 readers so far!

Recieved in the mail yesterday. Contacting those still on the ray list to see who is still interested in reading.

Journal Entry 40 by NMReader from Herndon, Virginia USA on Wednesday, March 17, 2010
Thought this would be a good ray.

How this bookring will work:

* Someone will PM you for your address, PM them back and provide your address

* When you receive the book, please make a journal entry letting everyone know that you received it

* Put the book at the top of your TBR pile (under other rings/rays that arrived first)

* Read the book (take your time and enjoy the book, don't feel rushed to finish it)

* If it looks like it will take you longer than a month to read, please post an updated journal entry so that all concerned know that the book is not stalled. Again, please don't feel rushed to move it on but do keep us informed!

* When the end is in sight, check the book's journal and PM the next person to get their address

* Finish the book, make another journal entry and let everyone know what you thought of the book

* Send the book to the next person on the list (please use the cheapest shipping method available), make release notes (Controlled Release) or journal entry to let everyone know that it's in the mail

Ray order (stars behind name confirm they are still interested):

Arrived today. Mahalo!
5/13/10 - I took longer because my 17 year son pounced upon it. Now that I have gotten it back, I have found it entirely enjoyable. The English are so pleasantly self-deprecating. this will go off to the next in line tomorrow via media mail.

Hello all,
I just received the book! It went to my old address before it was forwarded to my new address in SC. So, here it is on my little sofa and I plan to start it after I go have a walk on the beach under the full moon to celebrate a fellow bookcrosser's birthday. Later...
