The Bumblebee Flies Anyway

I read this back in high school and was instantly drawn into the story and its characters. It's an incredible story about the deeptest parts of life.
Sixteen-year-old Barney has only fleeting memories about his past but, as a voluntary patient at the institute for experimental medicine, he knows he is different from the terminally ill patients surrounding him. His involvement with the bitter, slowly dying, Mazzo brings Barney hope, pain, and a moment of heroic glory.

Sending to hunnyb as a RABCK from her wish list. She was the only one on the whole wish list site with this book listed (I like when I don't have to choose). I loved this book and am glad to know it's going to someone who wants it.

Thanks so much for sending this, KateKintail! I'm trying to read all of Cormier's works after I was astounded by "Chocolate War".
Wow! This was an amazing read. The development of Mazzo and Barney's friendship was really moving. There were so many issues brought up during the unfolding of the story - the desire for humans to fit in, secrets, memories... I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks KateKintail.
