This book is on its way to a new reader.
This is another book destined for a Jacksonville Panera. But, something about it...the hardcover without a dust jacket, the large easy-to-read font, the quote ("The only promise of childhood is that it will end.") on the page after the contents...something makes me want to read it first! I will be quick about it, though, and still have it in a basket at Panera soon.
This was a very nice short book. The bulk of it was a sweet love story set in the 1900s. I really felt like I got to know the characters, and I would like to read more by this author.

I dropped this off in the book basket which was moved slightly from my last visit. It's in the same "nook" but now it's on the floor by the front windows.

I went to Panera's this morning after Yoga class for breakfast and did not have the newspaper. This little book was in the basket marked "free books". I started reading and didn't want to stop. I finished it a little while ago. What a bittersweet surprise, perfect for a rainy Saturday afternoon! It really did draw you into a time past.
