Hello and nice catch! I'd love to know this book has found a fellow book lover, so please make a journal entry to tell all about your catch and your plans for the book. If you plan to send the book on its way to a new reader, I'd love to know that as well. Make another journal entry if you are giving it to a known person, or a "release note" if you are leaving it in the wild for anyone to catch, then let this book continue its travels. If you're a BookCrossing member, you'll be alerted by e-mail each time someone makes another journal entry. BookCrossing is free and confidential (no one is ever given your e-mail address). Enjoy!
An American Childhood is Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annie Dillard's poignant, vivid memoir of growing up in Pittsburgh, Pa., in the 1950s. I have had this book since I was in college in the late 1980s and it was recommended by one of my English professors. I will finally get around to reading it, thanks to BookCrossing.

Actually I had to bail the poor little book out of the St. Vincent Depaul thrift store, even though it still had the hot pink sticker on the front that reads "I'm not lost! I'm FREE!" It was worth the few cents I paid for it. It had only traveled 2 blocks!
I had read the book years ago and loved it. I grew up 40 miles southwest of Pittsburgh. I was born four years after the author.
I plan to read it again & then release it...somewhere in Pittsburgh!
