Going in the X Chromosome Bookbox
I've heard great things about both this author and this title, so I'm removing this from the x-chromosome box, and will journal again once I've read this.
"Upon finishing this book, 'rating' it is difficult for me, because I'm running hot/cold in my reflections.
On the one hand, I found Shreve's writing style to be highly descriptive, in an almost tactile way that really drew me into the emotional termoil of the storyline, and I couldn't stop reading.
On the other hand....well, I found Shreves writing to be HIGHLY descriptive, which really drew me into the EMOTIONAL termoil of the storyline. I found myself getting morose and depressed (then angry and...cheated.). I think perhaps it was the tale itself that I found too disturbing to want to go down that road. (Which, I think, is why I generally shy away from Oprah Club picks.)
I don't know...I just didn't particularly like the "feeling" the book gave me. I will probably seek out another title by this author (perhaps "Weight of Water"), as I did find her exceptional in her ability to take me 'into' the story, I just didn't like where this one lead.

Moving it right along, I'm adding this to lilmztaz's summer break bookbox.
