I have earache and I decided I could buy comfort from book sale. I bought this and eight other books. My ear still hurts.
Thanks to new site, I can't find my old forum posts and RABCK draws i arranged in the past. If my memory doesn't fail me, Hippolein wan this in my "1234 Draw". i finally decided to send the book unread, as I haven't finished it yet. I've tried to, but didn't make it very far.
This book arrived today, not damaged itself but the package it was in had been. No explanation though from the postoffice, but very pleased it made it after this long time!
Thanks a lot dotdot for sending the book, my wife is very pleased about it and will try to read it right away!
(makes you wonder where it went in between the two postoffices???)

Enjoyed reading the book very much, have always been interested in South Africa though the book made me see I now very little esp. about 'coloureds' in past-apartheid South Africa.
Well written, the 'story' itself is sad, funny and satirical with sensuous content too, it didn't make me very "unhappy" as such, but got me thinking...
Personally, I'd have preferred the characters using less crude language.
