Good fast read. I enjoyed it, but can't be taken to seriously, Its a NOVEL, not a real story. Lets not be having any Da Vinci Code debacle again.
Borrowed this from a fellow bookcrosser and I' really looking forward to reading it. Should be good.
Started off a little slow but picked up very quickly. It was an enjoyable and entertaining read and it''s quite obvious that Cross has done a lot of research which has allowed for a well told and developed story which paints a very good picture of the times. Not quite sure about the events surrounding the life of "Pope Joan" but it is a good and entertaining read.
My major complaint is that the ending seems to abrupt - it seems like there should be more leading up to it and it feels tacked on.
Thanks for letting me borrow this Colleen.!

A good read, and good use of historical details and background in this novel. Whether or not you believe there was a Pope Joan from 853-855 won't matter.
I am with those who doubt. Interested in more information? You could begin with THE FEMALE POPE: THE MYSTERY OF POPE JOAN-The First Complete Documentation of the Facts behind the Legend by ROSEMARY AND DARROLL PARDOE
This book is waiting to be returned to themarina

Received this from eicuthbertson at meetup. Looking forward to it.
I don't think I'm a doubter, but the case is still open. I enjoyed the book very much. It's such an early period that it is impossible to know whether the ideas and attitudes ascribed are anywhere near probable so all you can do is sit back and travel with the characters. Am returning this to themarina at meetup tonight.
