***NOTE***

While I am a writer who writes long when the spirit, and the subject, moves him you, dear fellow Journaler, aren't required to put in anything but the bare minimum ( Where Caught, where re-released, or whatever other fate you have in store for the book, even a brief review ) ...BUT longer is permissible, and encouraged, IF you are so moved to do so by my own such entries.

***END NOTE***

Recently rescued from a Thrift Store, in Pomona, Ca.,

This is a Hardcover, with Dust Jacket, that was published in 1964, by Doubleday & Co., and is excellent condtion for its age. ( Click on picture to enlarge! )

The interesting thing about this copy is that it was once a library book.

Open the cover and you will see a "Discarded by Ontario City Library" stamp from the library in Ontario, CA..

The is an Ontario City Library stamp on the top of the papges that can be seen when the book is closed.

On the Title Page there is another stamp:

Ontario City Library

MAY - - 1995

Ontario, CA. 91764

Also the authors last name is underlined, and a faded word above it, with 1914 -

next to it, all in pencil.

The spine has the library catalog# for the book on a sticker:

812152
FAS

I had originally left the book at the Chapman Coffee OBCZ, and today decided to see if I could find another place where it might find a taker. ;-D

Released 16 yrs ago (8/5/2007 UTC) at Kanan Dume Rd. - C Notes. Just go Enjoy the View! in Malibu, California USA

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

Today I revisited a 66 mile bike ride I 1st took in 2002, along Pacific Coast Highway, and in the mountains above it, in the Malibu area along the SoCal Coast, north of Santa Monica.

I did it to finally add photos to a story I wrote for my BikeBlog ( I'll post a link to an updated story, with pictures, later in the week. ).

I've taken the opportunity to do some truly "Wild" Releases. ;-D

This is #7.

This will be a BookCrossing 1st for this location, and is a Themed Release. ;-D

The view west, when heading down from the mountains, from Mulholland Dr. to PCH, is 4 miles of heaven! ;-D

I had planned on a "Release with a View", but it's just as well that I didn't since the view location didn't have a suitable spot to leave the book.

Before I even got there, however, I found the ideal location for anyone interested in Wild Releases along Kanan Dume Rd.. ;-D

The parking lot/staging area for a 13 mile ( one way. ) stretch of the 60 mile Backbone Hiking/Biking Trail, in the Santa Monica Mountains National Forest. ( Click on Picture to Enlarge! ). ;-D

There were 9 cars in the parking lot. ;-D

The Trail has a website, with pictures aplenty, and this portion makes its way north, & west ( or the reverse. ), between Kanan Dume Rd. ( At east side of Tunnel #1 ) and Point Magu State Park, along Pacific Coast Highway.

If you don't have a car, or bike, have no fear because there is a Weekend ParkLink Shuttle that takes you, free, to many of the Hot Spots in the Mountains ( And each bus has a Triple Bike Rack for cyclists, too!).
