What an interesting and unusual book.
I will attempt to refrain from describing the plot of this book because it was the author’s intent (in my opinion) to develop the tale from the first page to the last. To describe the plot in any manner would be to undermine the plan of the author. If you are the type who reads the final chapter of a mystery prior to starting the book, you might want to look at someone else’s description in a review or a catalogue. I will not be the one to ruin the book for you.
I was disturbed by the conversation style of the book. I thought that I would get used to as I proceeded through the book, but I never did. It is a conversation, but the voice of the primary character is all that is ever heard. It is, in fact, a one-sided dialogue. If that sounds contradictory, you should understand that the second person in the conversation is occasionally involved in the dialogue, but we (the reader) do not hear that side.
I have a comment that I would like to make here which might possibly insult some but, I think that it could be taken as a criticism for either side of this story as presented. This insult should not ever be taken personally. It is only a comment to be mulled on following the reading of this book:
Condescension is uncivilised behavior cloaked in a disguise of civility.
