Whoo hoo - received it in the mail today, thanks! I've enjoyed her other books so I'm anxious to get started on this one.
A wonderful book about love, life, parenting and the tragic loss of a new baby. Although I didn't really like the homewrecker Emilia she redeemed herself in the end. Interesting to think people try that hard to mold their children so early as evidenced by William and his quest to go to the right private school - kindergarten that is. A rather foreign concept to me and my suburban ways of child rearing (plus the fact that we have excellent public schools!).
Waldman is a great author - highly recommend.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read it KarenZero ... you're from Brooklyn, does the school bit ring true or is it a small part of the population giving us this misconception?

Thank you lginder! What a nice surprise!
I really enjoyed this book. I started out really disliking the main character. She is selfish, and whiny and a homewrecker. She endures a great loss though so I felt sympathy for her and by the end of the book she had grown on me and I was rooting for her.

Sending to another BC'er for her birthday. She lives in New York so might enjoy this one.
This author's name is familiar even though I don't think I've read any of her other books. Maybe I've read her essays somewhere...Anyway, this looks great.
