The House of God: The Classic Novel of Life and Death in an American Hospital

Bawdy and revealing, "House of God" is a novel about six interns and the resident who guides them through their first year of internship. The putative basis for TV shows like "E.R." and "Chicago Hope," "House of God" is known as one of the books that revealed to the general public the underbelly of medical care and medical training in this country: the licentiousness, the politics, the sloppiness. Sometimes hilarious and sometimes horrifying, it's an easy read.
