Picked up when I had dinner at the Louis Hartlooper Complex with some friends. Looks like a very nice read!

From the back:
In California's Sacramento Valley, six people meet once a month to discuss Jane Austen's novels. They are ordinary people, neither happy nor unhappy, but all wounded in different ways, all mixed up about their lives and their relationships. Over the six months they meet, marriages are tested, affairs begin, unsuitable arrangements become suitable, and, under the guiding eye of Jane Austen, some of them even fall in love....

I had no idea what to expect exactly of this book since I've read reactions from readers who were dissapointed. And on the other hand this book got raving reviews.
I didn't think the story was exceptionally, but it was a nice read. Still I think I've missed a point something, though I was pleased how the story enfolded.
Worth to mention is that the writer throws in three Lord Of The Ring-ish moments, and has some nice things to say about Ursula leGuin and Patrick O'Brian, whom I count among my favorite writers.
The book has a chapter about the Jane Austen novels, reactions from the public on Austen, plus hilarious questions for discussion from the book club.
And now I want to re-read some Jane Austen!

Who's Your Jane Austen?

Who's Your Jane Austen?

My best resemble: Bernadette

Like Bernadette, your Austen is a comic genius whose characters and dialogue are genuinely funny. You may be thought unreasonably attached to Pride and Prejudice. You will not be afraid to wear purple in old age.
