The fact that happy, healthy & newly engaged Celia took hr own life was almost unbelievable for her fiance Lloyd. The method she chose was almost beyond belief-she burned herself to death....
For looyd the process of dealing with her death is a nightmare.. why had she lied about where she was going that day?.. Why had she lied about her parents?... & who is the mysterious Otto?
But the main reason Lloyd can't come terms with Celia's death is that she's still with him- day & night relentlesly haunting him...

Re-reading for the the third, maybe fourth time, whatever, this was an enjoyable romp as always. This time the hero of our tale faces his dead girlfriend - made immortal by a fire ritual- & a cult with links to Hitler & the Nazis. Added to the list of characters is Tony Express, a Blind Native American boy & along with John Dull Knife this opens the door for some Native American magic too.
Overall, a great read, pretty much standard/classic Masterton & my only slight gripe is the ending was wrapped up rather quickly - but that often seems the way with this genre.
